Task
The function of the server for narcotic drug prescriptions (BtMRS) is to facilitate the process of ordering drug prescriptions by means of digital data exchange, at the same time guaranteeing a higher level of safety as compared to the former system.

Challenge
The prescription server is based on an electronic procedure for ordering, issuing and cancelling safety marks which will replace complete drug prescriptions. In future, also standard prescription forms will be labelled with these safety marks in order to create narcotic drug prescriptions. 100 000 physicians and 31 000 pharmacies are supposed to be connected to this system.
Success
The project was implemented successfully with the test system running smoothly. Finally, the politicians have decided that an overall solution for the electronic management of all prescriptions shall be established.
